autonovel is a GitHub-based system that orchestrates multiple AI agents to autonomously generate full-length novels — including text, layout, illustrations, narration, and a web landing page. It applies a modify-evaluate-keep/discard loop inspired by autoresearch, iteratively refining narrative content and production assets.
The project produced its first novel, *The Second Son of the House of Bells*, a 79,456-word work spanning 19 chapters, available in the `autonovel/bells` branch. Output formats include print-ready PDF, ePub, audiobook, and a static HTML landing page.
It is designed as an end-to-end creative pipeline rather than a writing assistant or editor — users provide an initial concept and the system handles generation, revision, formatting, and multi-modal publishing without manual intervention at each stage.
